Watch the video lesson, then complete the 32-question quiz covering what Scripture truly teaches about being made in God's image — in outward resemblance and in character.
Understanding that you are made in God's image — both in outward form and in character — has profound implications for how you view yourself, your body, and your daily conduct before God.
Many have been taught that bearing God's image is purely spiritual or symbolic — but Scripture and inspired writing both affirm that man bears God's image in outward resemblance and in character. God has a form. He walks, speaks, writes, and feels. Jesus, who is the express image of the Father, came in a human body — and that body is now glorified in heaven forever.
"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." — Genesis 1:27
Because your body is made in the image of God and is also the temple of His Spirit, how you treat it is a spiritual matter. Destroying the body through harmful substances, neglect, or immoral practices is described as the work of Satan — who is in enmity with God and seeks to deface the image God placed in you.
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own." — 1 Corinthians 6:19
The image of God in man was marred by sin — not destroyed, but defaced. Redemption is the restoration of that image: in character, in righteousness, in love, and in holiness. The goal of every Christian is to be conformed to the image of Christ, who is the express image of the Father.
"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another." — 2 Corinthians 3:18
