Each 90-minute class is custom-planned around your group's interests and experience level.

Class Option 1

Foraging

Identify & harvest what grows freely around you

Learn to see your yard, neighborhood park, or field edges the way God intended — as a living pantry and pharmacy. This class takes you outside to identify, touch, smell, and taste the wild edible and medicinal plants growing freely all around you. No experience needed; wonder is the only requirement.

  • Safe identification of 6–10 common Midwest wild plants
  • The "smell, touch, taste" identification method
  • Ethical & sustainable harvesting practices
  • Seasonal foraging calendar — what to look for and when
  • The Living Salad Method — harvest-to-table in 10 minutes
  • Safety rules: what to avoid and why

Class Option 2

Gathering, Preparing & Drying

Preserve the harvest for year-round use

Once you know what to find, the next step is preserving God's gifts so your harvest lasts all year. This hands-on class walks through the art of gathering herbs at their peak potency, properly cleaning and preparing them, and drying them using simple low-cost methods that anyone can do at home.

  • Best time of day & season to harvest for peak potency
  • Washing, sorting, and preparing fresh herbs
  • Air-drying, bundle-drying, and screen-drying methods
  • Low-heat oven drying — what works and what doesn't
  • Proper storage: jars, bags, light, moisture, and labeling
  • Building a simple home apothecary shelf

Class Option 3

Infusions, Decoctions, Powders & Ointments

Turn dried herbs into healing preparations

Transform your dried herb collection into practical healing remedies using the same time-honored methods herbalists and physicians relied on for centuries. This class is hands-on — participants make at least one preparation to take home. No special equipment required.

  • Infusions (herbal teas & cold extracts) — when and how
  • Decoctions — extracting from roots, bark, and hard material
  • Making and using herbal powders
  • Salve and ointment-making with herb-infused oils
  • Dosing and safety — how much is enough
  • Participants take home a preparation they made in class
