What Happens in Class

A full hands-on experience from flour to finished loaf — the same way bread has been made for thousands of years.

Opening · ~15 min

Introduction & Ingredients

We begin with a brief, engaging introduction to whole grain bread — why it matters, what makes it different from commercial bread, and how to read ingredient labels. You'll meet every ingredient in front of you and understand what it does.

Measuring · ~20 min

Measuring & Mixing

Each participant measures out their own ingredients — learning to work with whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, sweetener, and oil. We discuss substitutions, variations, and how to adjust for different preferences. The dough comes together by hand.

Kneading · ~20 min

Kneading the Dough

The most tactile and satisfying part of the class. Everyone kneads their own dough until it's smooth and elastic. We teach the proper technique, what to feel for, and how to know when the dough is ready — a skill you'll carry for life.

Rising · ~40 min

First Rise & Shaping

While the dough rises, we use the time for Q&A, bread-related teaching, and a brief discussion of Scripture and food. After the rise, participants punch down, divide, shape, and pan their four loaves. The second rise follows in the pans.

Baking · ~40 min

Into the Oven

The loaves go into the oven. We cover baking temperatures, how to know when bread is done, and proper cooling. This is also a wonderful time for fellowship, tasting, and questions while the aroma fills the room.

Take-Home · ~5 min

Cool, Bag, & Go Home

Every participant leaves with 4 fresh loaves they baked themselves, plus a simple printed recipe card. No one goes home empty-handed. The skill — and the bread — is truly theirs.

What's Provided & What to Bring

We handle the ingredients. You handle the loaf pans and the oven.

All Ingredients

Whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, oil, sweetener — enough for each participant to make 4 full loaves.

Printed Recipe Cards

Every participant receives a printed recipe card to take home and bake again on their own.

Instruction & Guidance

Full hands-on teaching from start to finish — every step explained and demonstrated.

What counts as one "Participant"? A "participant" refers to an individual, a family, or any group that will share the process of making one batch of bread together — producing 4 loaves. For example: a family of four working together as a team counts as one participant. Three separate individuals each working their own batch would be billed as three participants ($150 base + $10 + $10 = $170, plus travel).
